Since Dr Walsh and Dr Edwina have left the surgery things are not at all satisfactory there is not a regular doctor in the practice when you make an appointment you have no idea which doctor you will see which is very disconcerting for some patients. As for the so called new surgery i think this is pie in the sky and may be we should cut our losses and move to a another surgery that can offer a regular doctors service? it would be a nice idea if the practice manager would keep us informed on the possible new surgery? with all the new houses being built there could be a problem getting a doctor so can the SHORTSTOWN SURGERY be more proactive with information

Apart from the nurses and Dr Hussain who is very helpful, the surgery and its operations are shambolic. I’ve a list as long as my arm of how many things they got wrong, from telling me that my cholesterol count at 7 was normal to a double appointment which I took time off work for and having to rebook because I spent the second half of the appointment helping the doctor to find the forms on the internet because they didn’t know where they were in the office and they ran over, to this morning finding out that they haven’t sent all my notes to my new surgery and was about to get holiday meds that I’d only had in July 2016 as my new surgery has received no records after 2008! The doctors there, when they have good ones in, are terribly overworked and are missing the obvious. It’s only gone downhill in the last 5 years. The doctors will simply not listen to you. They're solution and Standard drill is to prescribe medication to mask problems and send you home. They will not even send you for appropriate scans as was the case with the torn ligaments in my shoulder. IF YOU LIVE LOCALLY, CONSIDER AND ALTERNATIVE IF YOU CAN. I KNOW IT SEEMS CONVENIENT TO HAVE THEM SO CLOSE BUT YOU'LL LOSE THAT CONVENIENCE CHASING / FOLLOWING UP. If all you need are pills, then you're in the right place. They only have locum staff and no longer have a manager as I’ve been informed. There is one senior lady doctor there who is amazing but you'll be lucky to get her. Sorry I dont have her name to hand but ping me if you need it. If I could have, I’d have chosen no stars. And of the missing notes for my holiday jabs, the receptionist informed me that she would not be able to pass them on to the new surgery as I was no longer a patient on their books, despite her having the information in front of her which she could have emailed the new surgery. She told me she could print them for me to collect which doesn’t really help as i've moved and then continued to say that she had calls to answer and wouldn't be able to read them out to me. I did finally persuade her to tell me them over the phone. I had only 3! I’ve also just been told that they are not allowed to email them to another surgery but strangely she was happy to give me them over the phone. I could have been a stranger! So bare that in mind too. They're happy to give details out over the phone even if they can’t confirm who you are. There is a new receptionist/admin guy. Be kind to him. He took my second call & was helping as best as he could to help me navigate the obvious contradictions who I'm certain found them just as confusing as i did. He asked, and was given permission to Fax the missing documents to the new surgery! I'm going to have to be a patient patient........again. UPDATE January 2017...........my new surgery still has not received the documents. no surprise there.
